Activities for Children on Isla Mujeres #1

Every Saturday morning at 10 o'clock at the Hacienda Mundaca Palapa
(near Isla Mujeres Palace Hotel)
Meg DeClerck, offers a free hour long introductory yoga class for children in Spanish & English.
Fun animal poses and super cute meditation
(where she actually magically gets all these giggly excited kids to close eyes and lie still)
The kids love it and you will love watching it even more.

Meg was certified at the Miami Yogashala in the Ashtanga tradition of Yoga in 2004. The Ashtanga certification process is one of the most rigorous and comprehensive forms of certification available. Meg finds great joy in teaching yoga which she believes has a direct effect on the well~being of the Spirit. She encourages laughter and looseness in her classes and inspires integral lessons that can be applied both on and off the mat. Bring your children along, everyone is welcome. Wear comfortable clothing and bring a yoga mat or towel.

Heavenly Massage

On return to the Island, I always find it takes me a few days, to chill and get myself moving at Island pace, to de~stress and stop walking & talking at 100mph big city style.
Not any more, Maria Luisa's massages are like mainlining zen.
Start your vacation with one of her heavenly massages and your whole body and mind are stripped of all tension, stress, aches and leave you feeling fluid, tranquil and ready to get on with the serious business of fully enjoying your vacation.

During her sessions, Maria Luisa uses a variety of essential oils, eucalyptus, cinnamon & lavender to name but a few, to massage you from scalp to toes and take not just your body but your mind away on a journey from daily stress and worries.

Becky Bohan describes the experience best,

"First Maria Luisa does away with the modesty sheet, so I am totally exposed. (She would use a sheet if I wanted one, but let me tell you, it is fabulous to do without!) Then she puts eucalyptus oil on her hands and holds them under my nose so I can breathe in the strong vapors of this medicinal plant. She rubs my scalp vigorously and then moves to the rest of my body.
For over an hour, Maria Luisa slathers on different oils for various areas of my body and rubs and kneads, vibrates and bends, stretches and pulls. During her massages I almost always have a deep sense of my soul being just a resident in my body. My mind seems to zoom to the outer galaxies and I look back at this little speck of dust called Earth I feel so much love and joy for this home and for the physical form I am inhabiting for such a short time.
Not only do I walk (stagger) away from the massage totally relaxed, the knots rubbed out, the energy points revitalized, and my skin aglow, I also have a sense of profound spiritual wellbeing.
On that little rectangle of a table, my soul experiences a connection to the Infinite."

Olivia Restaurant

Israeli couple Lior Ben-shafrut Zelzer and Yaron Zelzer have introduced their culture and traditional flavors to the enchanting island of Isla Mujeres, Mexico in a wonderful fusion of Moroccan, Greek, Bulgarian and Turkish influenced cuisine. Olivia is a mélange of cultural recipes of the couples parents and grandparents. After living in Isla Mujeres for four years and missing the variety of flavors and home-cooked meals they grew up with in Israel, Lior and Yaron decided to bring some of their home to the island and recreate the recipes their Mothers and Grandmothers handed down to them, which was not a simple task, to say the least.

The result is Olivia, a refreshingly diverse restaurant with a loyal following of both local residents and visitors to Isla Mujeres. Everything served at Olivia is homemade “from scratch” daily. From the delicious selections of freshly baked bread to the unique spices and seasonings used to flavor the freshest produce, fish and meats. Lior and Yaron pay homage to the home cooked food their Mothers and Grandmothers so lovingly brought to the table.
